Jason's Story
Music has been a constant source of joy to Jason through both the best and bleakest of times. Jason is continually awed by music’s power to rouse emotions in people. Great music is universal and timeless because it speaks directly to the essence of one's being. Music is what feelings sound like. Not unlike love, music communicates in a language all humans can understand.

Jason’s rapid exposure to new artists and genres (thanks Napster!) while attending Virginia Tech ignited an unquenchable desire to learn to play an instrument, particularly drums. However, drums were too big for his dorm room, so when given the choice between drums or guitar, he chose guitar. Jason’s first guitar was a black Fender Stratocaster, and though it doesn't get as much use as it used to, he’ll never sell it.

Playing with Side Effects offers Jason the opportunity to enhance his skills as a guitarist as well as to share his love of music with others. He is excited to be playing with a group of such exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individuals and is eager to see where it leads.

When not playing guitar, Jason can most likely be found reading a book, watching a documentary, listening to live music, swimming laps in the pool, or working on one of many ongoing household projects.
